The 28-year-old producer previously discussed his mother, whom he referred to as his “greatest influence.” In a 2016 interview with The FADER, he said, “My name is Leland Tyler Wayne.” “My mother wanted to give me a name that would allow me to do anything I desired. An astronaut, to be precise. President. Whatever. Wayne, Leland.”
His father was absent, so his mother did everything she could to encourage her son’s ambitions. “I knew he was in a lot of pain,” Leslie stated in the same interview, “which is part of why I supported him so much in music.”
Metro Boomin is still one of hip-most hop’s sought-after hitmakers, having collaborated with artists such as Drake, Kanye West, The Weeknd, Future, and Migos.
