Post’s last album, Hollywood’s Bleeding, was released two and a half years ago. He talked about the follow-up in a recent interview with Billboard, revealing that it will be his shortest to date at 45 minutes.
“Trying to cram 20 to 25 songs in there isn’t going to work,” he explained. “It’s like, ‘Oh, if you have less songs, you’re not going to stream as much,’ but the entire idea is that you don’t want to compromise your art or your gut sense on anything,” she says.

In November, he released “One Right Now,” a collaboration with The Weeknd that charted at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. The new song, he says, will “speak more to how I’m feeling right now: the ups and downs, the disarray, and the bipolar side of being a mainstream musician.”
Rumors regarding the project originated in April 2020, when Post claimed that development on the next album had begun during a Nirvana tribute event. Post told the Wall Street Journal in July 2020 that his goal with the album was to “give people hope and hopefully uplift people’s spirits” while also experimenting with new sounds as time passed during the COVID-19 pandemic and social reform movements spread across the United States and the world at large.
Dre London, Post Malone’s manager, hinted on Instagram in April 2021 that Post might release two albums in 2021, and that the album title would be disclosed the following week.
The latter never happened, raising doubts on the likelihood of Post releasing two albums in 2021; however, one album is likely to be released in the second half of 2021.
The album’s probable first single, “Motley Crew,” was released on July 9, 2021, accompanied with a Lyrical Lemonade music video. The album’s other possible first single, “One Right Now,” is a Post and The Weeknd collaboration that was published on November 5, 2021, with a music video following the following week.
In an interview with Billboard on January 26, 2022, he revealed the album’s title.
